Lizzy Davies BVSc MRCVS
After growing up on the family farm near Builth Wells Lizzy qualified as a vet from Bristol University in 1999, before starting work at Honddu in 2000. Lizzy enjoys all aspects of her job and one of her daughters, Darcy says that Lizzy’s hobby is being a vet! When not working, she generally spends her time herding her now grown up children.
Huw Jones BVSc MRCVS
Huw was born in Denbigh in North Wales, and grew up on the family’s dairy, beef and sheep farm. After qualifying as a vet from Liverpool in 1995 he spent 2 years practising in Camarthen, 4 years in his home town Denbigh, a few months in Kojonup, Western Australia, and a few months in Knighton before coming to Brecon to practice in 2004.
Helen Jones BVSc MRCVS
Helen grew up in Gloucestershire and studied Veterinary Medicine at Liverpool University, qualifying in July 2018 and joining Honddu soon after. Helen enjoys all aspects of mixed practice, particularly being out and about in the beautiful countryside. When not at work Helen enjoys walking her two terriers, Copper and Todd, when they choose to behave, as well as going for the odd run and swim.
Ruth Stephens BVMS MRCVS
Qualified as a vet from Glasgow University in 1983. Born and raised in Somerset on the family farm. Married a local farmer and living in Brecon. Ruth has three grown up children. She is most interested in small animal surgery and loves spending her time in the operating theatre. In her spare time she enjoys Ballroom dancing and baking.
Kate Pursey BVM BVS MRCVS
Qualified as a vet from Nottingham University in 2013. She started her veterinary career in a large, mixed animal practice in Bridgend and then decided to move closer to home and joined Honddu vets in 2015. Kate loves nearly all aspects of her job, particularly the variation of the work, travelling around the countryside and meeting new people.
Pippa Wollen BVSc MRCVS
Pippa grew up in Herefordshire and qualified from Liverpool University in 2023 and has been with Honddu Vets ever since. Pippa has a particular interest in goat medicine and surgery. When not working Pippa enjoys exploring the Brecon Beacons with her dog Olive or competing her horse Lia.
Hannah Williams BVSc MRCVS
Hannah qualified from Bristol in 2001. After a brief stint at mixed practice in Devon, Hannah chose to become a small animal vet. She later worked in Warwickshire and Worcestershire for over a decade before joining Honddu in 2018. Hannah is at her happiest at home, with her dog, cats, husband and daughter (not necessarily in that order!)
Anna James BVSc MRCVS
Anna graduated as a vet from Liverpool university in 2024 and joined Honddu in Jan 2025 after several months travelling around south America. Anna enjoys all aspects of mixed practice. Anna grew up in Cardiff an now embraces her time here exploring the Beacons. Anna has recently rescued two kittens (George & Tina) which keep her busy!
Alice Skinner BVSc MRCVS
Alice grew up on a mixed sheep, beef and arable farm in Leicestershire. She graduated from Bristol Vet School in the Summer of 2025 and shortly joined Honddu afterwards. Outside of work she likes to play hockey or explore the local area with her black labrador in tow.
Abi Davies BVSc MRCVS
Abi graduation as a vet form Bristol in 2017. Abi worked in Somerset for 5 years before moving back to Wales where she grew up. Abi loves exploring the Beacons and the coastline of Wales with her furry friends
Charlotte Layton BVM BVS MRCVS
Charlotte graduated as a vet from Nottingham University in 2024 and joined Honddu shortly after. Charlotte is most interested in farm work, and in her spare time she returns to her family farm in Herefordshire to help out wherever she can. Charlotte also helps and takes part in her local young farmers group.
Sophie Jones RVN
Sophie joined Honddu in 2010 as a receptionist which then lead on to qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2017. Born and raised on the family farm in Merthyr Cynog but now settled on a family farm in Crai with her husband and children. Beccie Crossman RVN
Qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2003 after studying with the College of Animal Welfare. Beccie moved to Brecon seven years ago from London, where she had worked in various veterinary surgeries across London and Hertfordshire for 36 years, whilst bringing up her five children. Beccie particularly enjoys small animal work, especially cats, dogs and small furries.
Laura Ferguson RVN
Laura spent some time quite a few years ago seeing practice as a work experience student. She then started her veterinary nursing career in 2012 at Bush House Veterinary Group. She then qualified as a veterinary nurse in November 2017 and started working at Honddu in December 2018. Laura has twin boys who keep her very busy outside of work.
Caitlin Winfield RVN
Caitlin joined Honddu in September 2019 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in the spring of 2023. She was born and raised in Glasbury. In her spare time she enjoys meeting up with family and friends and being outdoors especially by the river with her labrador Bonnie
Hannah Williams RVN
Hannah joined Honddu in February 2021 as a student veterinary nurse. Hannah lives just outside of Brecon, near Sennybridge and has always had an interest in animals as she has grown up on the family cattle and sheep farm. Hannah loves the outdoors, either helping her dad on the farm with lambing and other jobs or playing hockey for the Brecon ladies' team.

Veterinary nurse who has been working at the practice since December 2018. Born and raised in Brecon but now settled on the outskirts of Llangorse with her husband. Catrin Davies RVN
Catrin joined Honddu in 2024 after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in London. Catrin enjoys all small animal aspects. Catrin loves the outdoors and enjoys walking her dogs. Catrin has settled in Brecon but does enjoy returning to her family home in Abercrave at every opportunity
Menna Thomas SVN
First year student who joined the practice at the beginning of 2023. Born and raised near the family farm in Ystradfellte, now living on the outskirts of Brecon with her family. She has a passion for anything animal related including lab work. She also enjoys sporting activities, including horse riding and being outside
Luke Stevens ANA
Luke Joined Honddu in December 2022 after graduating from his BSc Bioveterinary Science degree at Hartpury College. He grew up helping to look after the sheep on his family farm in Glasbury. In his spare time he likes to help his dad with his pharmaceutical research
Ruby Herdman ANA
Ruby joined Honddu in 2025 and is in her first year of nursing assistant, Ruby is planning on then studying veterinary nursing. Ruby enjoys running when she isn’t helping out on her family farm in Brecon or out at young farmers events
Rebecca Gwynne RVN
Rebecca joined Honddu in July 2025 after having 18 months travelling around Australia and New Zealand. Rebecca has been qualified since 2019 and is originally from South Wales, but is now happy to be back and settled in Brecon with her partner and two cats, Pip and Bean.
Stacy Gardiner
Originally from Herefordshire, Stacy moved to Brecon in 2010 and joined Honddu in 2014. She is a member of our nursing team and also works on reception. She has a keen interest in all animals and regularly takes home the waifs and strays, be it a hedgehog, owl or a cat.
Chloe Vaughan
Born and raised on the family farm in Llangattock. Joined the practice towards the end of 2019 as a receptionist, after completing an FdSc in Equine Studies at Aberystwyth University. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog Barney. Chloe also likes to travel and see different parts of the world.
Becky Watts
Becky has lived in Brecon for over 30 years and ran a childcare business with her husband for 19 years before joining Honddu in 2023. Becky has a great love for all animals and in her spare time enjoys travelling and spending time with her family and pets
Cerys Parfitt
Cerys is a farmer’s daughter from Heol Senni. She started working for us in June 2016 as a member of the reception team. In her spare time, Cerys helps out on the family farm and also has a passion for showing her Brecknock hill cheviot sheep, attending many local shows.
Caroline Davies
Caroline has been working for the practice since 2009. She currently keeps track of all the TB testing and organises and arranges the vets’ tests for them, whilst also helping out on reception when things get a little busy. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and walking her two spaniels Paddy and Rio.
Laura Humphreys
Laura studied A level Business Studies at Herefordshire and Ludlow College, which then inspired her to go on and study for a Diploma in Accountancy and payroll.
